From a very early age, I always expressed a keen interest and a flare in ICT and won the award of excellence in secondary school. My studies continued from GNVQ ICT to AVCE ICT at secondary school before I took the big step into the world of university where I attended the university of Wolverhampton and studied BSC (Hons) Computer Science. Throughout my academic career I have always achieved high grades and over excelled in any subject area I have studied within ICT and Computer Science.
My work experience has proven beneficial to the position I'm in now. I began my "working life" as a customer services officer at a college. Where I gathered essential skills that in my opinion many "computer scientists" lack I learnt that communication was fundamental for anything to succeed and was put into numerous situations where communication was critical... working on reception, the call centre or front facing enrolling students over the busy summer enrolling period (why I hear you ask? because it involves talking to people face to face instead of over the internet).
I then worked in e-marketing for the second largest postal company in Europe where I was "the internet guy" ensuring the many intranet and internet websites were all maintained whilst following Google trends each month to ensure successful search engine optimisation (SEO). I was also heavily involved with any email campaigns... produced statistics that were presented to the highest level of staff within the company.
*Yawn* the story goes on... I then worked as an ICT Consultant for an award winning government funded project within the West Midlands... the experience I gained was amazing I was involved with projects from start to finish, meeting clients... analysis... design... development... testing... support.... and even the delivery of seminars! (how many computer scientists have done that!... not many I can assure you). To the world of computer scientists this is referred to as the software development life cycle... to ordinary people this is known as "geek talk".
*Double yawn* to further myself I am now certified, the certification is from the w3c schools to anybody who isn't a web related individual w3c are the organisation/dudes who set the guidelines for how websites should be built. Allowing me to apply standards that are current to the industry whilst building/developing websites.
